Every New Microsoft-Published Game Will Be Coming to Both Console and PC

What could this mean for the future of Halo?
This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

At E3 last month Microsoft announced their Xbox Play Anywhere program, now in a new blog post today the company confirmed that every future Microsoft-published game will support the program. This means that every title published by Microsoft Studios, will be coming to both console and PC, presumably this could include future Halo titles as well. Last year’s Halo 5 never made it to PC, which some fans were a little disappointed about.

Microsoft’s blog post detailed a myriad of additions coming to both Windows 10 and Xbox One in the new anniversary update, with the Xbox Play Anywhere sections stating: “Every new title published from Microsoft Studios will support Xbox Play Anywhere and will be easily accessible in the Windows Store.”

Xbox Play Anywhere allows players to purchase a game on Xbox One (digitally) and receive a free copy of that same game on PC, or the other way around if someone purchases a PC game digitally. It will also save progress, game saves and achievements across the two platforms as well.

The feature will first be implemented this September with ReCore, the new game from Mega Man and Mighty No. 9 designer Keiji Inafune. Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4 will follow suit with the program after that. To see the entire list of games supported, you can take a look at Microsoft’s official page for it.
