Today Take-Two Interactive Software announced new sales figures for Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto V during its quarterly financial conference call for investors and analysts.
We learn from chief executive officer Strauss Zelnick that Rockstar’s latest western game has now shipped over 36 million units.
On the other hand, the unstoppable Grand Theft Auto V, ever-supported by the ultra-popular and still-growing Grand Theft Auto Online, has now shipped nearly 140 million units.
More copies of Grand Theft Auto V were sold in calendar year 2020 than in any other year besides 2013 when it was originally released.
The previous update was three months ago when the two games were respectively at 34 and 135 million units shipped.
Today Take-Two also confirmed that it’s going to continue releasing new content for both Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online “to keep new and returning players excited and engaged,” likely surprising no one.
Incidentally, we already know that GTA5Â will be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X this year, which means that no one is stopping this train.
