Paramount Television and Anonymous Content have bought the rights to the brand and are now working together to translate the military series onto the small screen.

Michael Sugar, known for producing films such as Spotlight and The Fifth Estate, and Ashley Zalta, whose previous work includes Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, are both set to come on board as executive producers for the new show.

No network has yet been chosen to broadcast the show, but Anonymous Content work in broadcast, premium cable, cable and streaming.

In a statement, Paramount TV’s president Amy Powell said that “EA’s Battlefield has an incredibly dynamic narrative, coupled with a loyal fan base, which will allow us to bring this exciting and unique property to the small screen.”

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Michael Sugar also stated that “together with EA and Paramount TV, we’ll develop the Battlefield TV series with the same commitment to robust storytelling that has made the game such a runaway success for nearly 15 years.”

The next game in the Battlefield franchise, Battlefield 1, is set to release this October for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
