PlayStation VR Gets Another Launch Title, Rollercoaster Dreams

For all the kids who held on to that crazy hope of one day playing Rollercoaster Tycoon in virtual reality, PlayStation VR’s Rollercoaster Dreams just might be for you. The newest launch title announced for the headset, the game promises to be an immersive, amusement park managing experience. It hits PS VR and PS4 on Oct. 13.

The trailer runs through what players can expect of the game, including designing and maintaining the park, building rides, and of course then strapping into those rides yourself. You can explore your own park, and the parks of others online, all in virtual reality.

“Although you can play Rollercoaster Dreams in VR and with a regular display, I strongly recommend you play it with PlayStation VR,” Hirofumi Hattori, President of developer Bimboosoft says in a post on the PlayStation Blog. “The feeling of entering into the world of the game is incredible. It’s a revolution in gaming, similar to when games made the leap from sprites to polygons.”

While Rollercoaster Dreams may not be the best looking game coming to PlayStation VR this fall, it’s hard not to admire a game that lets you know how many people have urinated on your rollercoaster.

In other VR news, Square Enix revealed last week that Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration will include some limited VR support when it releases this fall. Additionally, PlayStation Head Shuhei Yoshida assured fans VR games will all work on the standard PS4, meaning you won’t need a PS Neo to run them.

PlayStation VR releases Oct. 13, at which point Rollercoaster Dreams will join the likes of RIGS, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, EVE: Valkyrie, and PlayStation VR Worlds in the headset’s launch line-up.
