Ubisoft is branching deeper into the mobile industry, today acquiring publisher Ketchapp, the name behind mobile titles such as 2048, Jelly Jump, and Stack.

The buy will give Ubisoft increased reach in their mobile advertising, as well as place them as the fourth biggest mobile game publisher by number of downloads, with Ketchapp games touting nearly 700 million downloads and an average of over 23 million downloads per month.

“With Ketchapp, Ubisoft acquires a highly profitable publisher with a successful portfolio of free-to-play games for mobile,” Jean-Michel Detoc, Ubisoft’s executive director of mobile business, said in today’s press release. “This acquisition gives Ubisoft one of the world’s leading mobile game publishers and reinforces our advertising capabilities in mobile gaming.”

If anything, we can all take a moment to imagine a 2048 Watch Dogs 2 minigame.

In addition to Ketchapp, Ubisoft is also busy trying to buy themselves. In a renewed attempt to fend off a takeover by media conglomerate Vivendi, Ubisoft is looking to purchase 3.2 percent of their stock, or 3.625 million shares, for over $137 million. The deal will close in November of this year, just in time for Watch Dogs 2’s Nov. 15 release.
