Nintendo of Japan released a new episode of the Cat Mario show yesterday that showcased all of the wonderful indie titles that will be coming to the Switch, appropriately called ‘Nindies’. During the sizzle reel for the Nindies, we can see that Owlboy is apparently heading to the Switch soon- for Japan at least.
Owlboy, developed by D-Pad Studios, originally released last year for Microsoft Windows and is a 2D platformer. Owlboy was met with widespread critical acclaim but was known for having quite the long development cycle; the development for Owlboy started in 2007. The basic mechanics of the title were heavily inspired by older Nintendo titles like Super Mario Bros. 3 and Kid Icarus.
No other details like the pricing and release date were shown about the Switch title. There was no word on a Western release either. You can watch a short snippet of the game in-action in the video right down here:
