Following some reports mere hours ago, Microsoft has just confirmed that Platinum Games’ Scalebound is now canceled.
After rumors had begun circling the internet earlier today, a Microsoft representative has provided the following statement, confirming that Scalebound has been canceled.
“After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for Scalebound. We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and other great experiences.”
According to Windows Central, Microsoft said that “they have great respect for Platinum Games and that Scalebound’s cancellation came down to “business decisions.””
Fans had begun to grow concerned after they notice the highly anticipated title was missing from Xbox Wire’s post last week that reflected on the successes of 2016, and everything to look forward to in the year ahead. Microsoft had also removed the official Scalebound page from the Xbox website, suggesting that the game was having development issues.
It’s a sad day for Xbox fans and many will be hoping that the game will somehow see the light of day in the future. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on any further developments as and when they arise.
