Today newly-minted Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has a fairly clear answer to share on Twitter.

Spencer explained that he had a number of “good calls” with Sony’s leadership to confirm Microsoft’s intent to honor all existing agreements with the house of PlayStation, and to express the “desire” to keep Call of Duty on Sony’s platforms.

Spencer concluded by mentioning that he believes that Sony is an important part of the industry and Microsoft values the relationship with them.

This wouldn’t be the first time Microsoft acquires a big franchise with wide appeal and keeps publishing its content on rival platforms. The same happened with the acquisition of Minecraft’s developer Mojang.

That being said, the wording isn’t 100% conclusive, and we’ll have to wait and see whether Phil Spencer will get what he wishes for.

Earlier this week, Microsoft confirmed the rumored $68.7 billion pricetag for the massive deal to acquire Activision Blizzard and all its properties, including the mobile arm King, and provided more information about the reasoning behind the deal from both sides.

Proud weeb hailing from sunny (not as much as people think) Italy and long-standing gamer since the age of Mattel Intellivision and Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality), MMORPGs, and visual novels are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans on Earth of the flight simulator genre.
