Blizzard announced the news today alongside a Hero preview video that gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at the development of the all-powerful new Hero. The preview talks about how Doomfist’s name drop in the first Overwatch video came before they even knew who this villain even was and how they looked. It was only after this point that the team started to sketch and develop upon it until they finally came up with the final design.

The team also describe how Doomfist should “most of the time be punching people and when he’s punching people you feel it.” The new addition to the roster was also referred to as an “ode to the fighting game genre.” You can check out the preview video for yourself below.

Doomfist will be made available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on July 27.
