Once more analyst Mat Piscatella delivers the news via Twitter.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare returns to the top spot of the sales chart for games, while the evergreen Grand Theft Auto V grabs the second place.

Animel Crossing: New Horizons is third proving to have strong legs two months after it won the top.

Final Fantasy VII Remake has slowed down after conquering the peak in April, and it ranked 8th for May.

As for hardware, the Switch is the best-selling console of the month once again both for Dollar and unit sales.

It also recorded the highest individual sales for a console in May since the 3DS in 2009.

On top of that, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is firmly at the top of sales both for 2020 so far, and for the past twelve months, once more proving the steel-clad solidity of Activision’s FPS franchise.

Below you can check out the relevant charts, including the best-selling games in 2020 so far, those in the past twelve months, and May’s best-selling games split by platform.

Proud weeb hailing from sunny (not as much as people think) Italy and long-standing gamer since the age of Mattel Intellivision and Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality), MMORPGs, and visual novels are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans on Earth of the flight simulator genre.
