Super Mario Run Gets New Content Less Than a Week After Release

Already?!

Nintendo’s portly plumber may have only made his smartphone debut last week, but that hasn’t stopped Super Mario Run from already receiving some fresh new content.

Unfortunately, the new content is only cosmetic items to help spruce up your Mushroom Kingdom and get it ready for the holidays. The most notable new item is the Sparkly Christmas Tree, complete with decorations and presents sitting neatly underneath. If you want this festive centerpiece it’ll set you back 1500 coins. Alternative, you can also get a Mario Snow Globe, with the titular plumber standing inside. If you want to get your hands on this decoration, you’ll need to relinquish some of your blue, purple, and yellow toads rather than coins.

Rounding off the new additions are colorful bunches of Poinsettia. If you think your Mushroom Kingdom could do with some extra flora, then you’ll need to cough up an extra 500 coins for each set.

Despite receiving some middling reviews, Super Mario Run topped Pokemon GO’s downloads record when it released last week.

Super Mario Run is currently available on iOS devices as a free download. If you like what you play from the three free levels available, you can then purchase the game for $9.99 via an in-app purchase.
