Nintendo has today revealed that its online services for the 3DS handheld will temporarily go down for maintenance next week.
The news comes via the Nintendo Maintenance Information page which details the downtime. According to the page, the upcoming maintenance will take place on Jan. 9 between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM PST. During this time, online play, rankings, and other network services may become unavailable on your Nintendo 3DS system. Of course, there’s always a chance that maintenance can take a little longer than expected, so if you’re still encountering problems shortly before or after this time period, just try again a little later.
No further information is provided on the maintenance information page, so your best bet is to simply avoid using your 3DS’ online services during this period to ensure you don’t encounter any issues yourself.
Nintendo fans will already have Jan. 12 marked down in their calendars too, with a ton of Switch news likely to emerge from its official reveal event on that day. We’ll be covering the event live, so be sure to keep it locked to Twinfinite for all of the latest Nintendo Switch news.
