As reported by Japanese publication Famitsu, NieR: Automata and Drakengard director Yoko Taro spoke about the possibilities of future projects in store for him during the SEA Summit held in Singapore late last week.

The man stated that sequels to the aforementioned games could happen should he acquire the necessary funds from a Square Enix producer, but that the next medium he would like to work in is that of adult video.

When asked about whether or not he considered making a movie based on a game, Taro responded that he had thought about it before, but that he’d need money to make that happen: “…first and foremost I’d like to find someone with money.” A new Drakengard title would be store should Taro have funding, which in that case he’ll “make it anytime,” and a new NieR: Automata would entail the exact opposite of what fans are hoping it will be. In his words exactly Taro states, “I think I’d imagine a NieR: Automata sequel that everyone is thinking about, then make something that is not that. I’m going to ruin it, is what I’m thinking.”

Finally, when approached on the subject of other media aside from that of games, novels, and stage plays – that in which Taro has dabbled in before – the question was raised as to what form of media the director would like to explore next. “I think this may be off-putting, but I’d like to make an adult video. I think of it as something I’d like to at least make once in my lifetime.”

Here’s hoping that the NieR: Automata director will see all his dreams come true eventually.
