Earlier today, Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima officially left Konami to create his own independent studio. The details of the game haven’t been finalized yet, but we now know that he’s collaborating with Sony to make a PlayStation exclusive title.
Kojima appeared in a video with Andrew House from Sony Computer Entertainment to give early details on his next project. He announced his official departure from Konami on Twitter, and appeared with House to discuss the creation of an independent studio. This studio’s first game will be a collaboration with Sony set on creating a franchise for the PlayStation.
“I’m thrilled to embark on creating a new franchise with PlayStation that will give you all a new and innovative gaming experience so please stay tuned,” he shares.
“This is very exciting,” House responds. Only a slight understatement. The two shake hands and the video closes with the official Kojima Productions logo.
