Original Story

The hearts of streaming and Nintendo Switch fans sank today. According to an announcement on Netflix’s company support Twitter account, there are “currently no plans” to bring the streaming service to Switch.

Ever since the release of Hulu on the Switch, fans have been wondering when Netflix would make its way over to Nintendo’s console. It looks like fans will be waiting for quite some time. Check out Netflix’s official statement below:

Consoles are no longer just for gaming. With a wide suite of streaming services available on both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, this is a big hit for Nintendo and its fans, at least for the moment.

This doesn’t mean that Netflix will never come to the Switch. The console’s incredible success over the last year has seen more and more software companies jump in on the bandwagon, so it would in the company’s interest to get on Nintendo’s platform. Considering how the streaming service was available on Nintendo’s last console, the Wii U, it’s certainly not out of the question.

Netflix is currently available on most other gaming consoles, including the Wii, Wii U, 3DS, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita.
