This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

With the explosive new Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Strikers just around the corner, Bandai Namco has just released a brand-new trailer that displays one of the game’s modes for online play, Barrier Battle mode. In this mode, players must use fully utilize teamwork and tactics in order to remove the seals from their opponent’s barriers.

The new trailer shows that players will be split into two teams: offense and defense. As its name suggests, the offensive team will go on the hunt for and release the opponent’s seals so that they can fight the boss within the barrier. However, releasing the seals might be the hardest part of this mode.

Players will have to stand stationary on a stake in order to propel it out of the ground, releasing the seal, which means teams must work together to protect the player on the stake from the defensive team. Once the barrier’s two seals have been lifted, the shinobi must then defeat the powerful boss before the seals reactivate, placing an entirely new set of stress-inducing conditions to the game.

As a counter, the defense must utilize the jutsu of Ranged and Defensive characters in order to intercept the offense and protect the boss with all they’ve got. Players can use their Ultimate Jutsu and old fashioned teamwork to get the job done, and in the end only players with full mastery over their characters will pull ahead of the others.

Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Strikers is set to release for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on Aug. 31.
