Miitomo, Nintendo’s first smartphone app, has hit 10 million downloads worldwide. It’s a major milestone, especially with the app having only been released in the West for just under a month.
To celebrate the massive number of downloads on iOS and Android, Nintendo are holding a special promotion from Apr. 29th – May 9th. During this time, players will receive daily bonuses including Miitomo coins and tickets. Nintendo are going to give away a total of 5000 coins and 12 game tickets by the end of the 10-day event.
Miitomo Drop stages, which were Japan-exclusive, will be available. There is also new Splatoon gear available. Nintendo also revealed that more than 20 million Miifotos have been created and shared through the app.
Nintendo’s next foray into the mobile market will include fan-favourite franchises Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem, the latter of which has finally been considered a ‘major IP’ by Nintendo. Miitomo is the first of a number of mobile apps coming as part of Nintendo’s new partnership with DeNA.
