Super Lucky’s Tale, a nostalgia-inducing 3D platformer from developer Playful Corp., will launch on Xbox One, Xbox One X, and Windows 10 on Nov. 7. The announcement came during the Xbox at Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany. Â The game was originally announced during Xbox’s E3 presentation back in June.
A sequel to the Oculus Rift launch title Lucky’s Tale, Super Lucky’s Tale ditches the virtual reality headset while maintaining the classic N64-era 3D platforming that made its predecessor a success.  The game draws heavy inspiration from 3D platformers such as Banjo-Kazooie. Players take control of the Lucky the Fox — the game’s titular main character — to jump, break boxes, throw bombs, dodge flamethrowers, and gather collectibles in the brightly colored world of Super Lucky’s Tale. Lucky must help his sister rescue the Book of Ages from the story’s mysterious villain, Jinx.

The Nov. 7 release date coincides with the launch of the Xbox One X, and the game will launch enhanced for the new console with native 4k rendering and 60 fps gameplay. It joins other titles such as Forza Motorsport 7, Assassin’s Creed Origins, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and more that will be receiving upgrades for the Xbox One X when it launches later this year.
