The Game Awards 2018 kicked things off in a big way this year with the reveal of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: Black Order, a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
A trailer was shown off for the announcement featuring quite a few different heroes and villains from across Marvel, many of which, like Nick Fury and Iron Man, sport their Marvel Cinematic Universe styles. The game looks to be done in the party-based brawler style of previous games. After the announcement, Geoff Keighley noted on Twitter that the developer of Ultimate Alliance 3 is Team Ninja, the developer behind titles like Ninja Gaiden and Nioh.
Characters in the trailer include the Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Thor, Hulk, Ultron, Thanos, and more. Obviously, this is a huge get for Nintendo as an exclusive, and all we know is that the trailer said Nintendo Switch exclusive in 2019.
It isn’t completely clear whether this means timed exclusive, or permanent exclusive, but either way it’s pretty big news that a brand new Marvel game is coming to Switch exclusively. We’ll update this article with more details as soon as their available. In the meantime, take a look at the debut trailer down below, and here’s the official description via Nintendo.
“The MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE series returns for the first time in 10 years—with a new action RPG—exclusively on the Nintendo Switch system! Assemble your ultimate team of Marvel Super Heroes from a huge cast including the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the X-Men, and more! Team up with friends to prevent galactic devastation at the hands of the mad cosmic tyrant Thanos and his ruthless warmasters, The Black Order.”
