Dark Souls III’s upcoming DLC pack, Ashes of Ariandel, was originally scheduled to release on Oct. 25. Thanks to a timely “logistical error” on the part of publisher Bandai Namco, the DLC will now release a day earlier, on Oct. 24.
The “logistical error”, as Bandai Namco puts it, caused the DLC to be downloadable for Xbox One players yesterday. This was reported by a number of Reddit users, as well as us. Following this, Gamespot asked the company to comment on the issue and Bandai Namco acknowledged the goof-up. In fixing the release date for the DLC, Bandai Namco has seemingly moved up the DLC’s launch by a whole day. Ashes of Ariandel is now scheduled to release at 3 PM PDT on Oct. 24 for Steam players and 9 PM PDT on the same day for console players.
Ashes of Ariandel, the first of two DLC packs for Dark Souls III, takes players to the Painted World of Ariandel and beyond. In this snow-covered land, players will encounter dangerous trees, Nordic-looking enemies, and quite a bit of frost. The DLC will feature two new boss fights as well as new weapons, armor sets and spells. There will also be a separate area for PvP duels now, made for the more competitive Souls fans.

Finally, here’s the trailer for the DLC, featuring a boss that apparently loves squashing people with a giant Lordvessel.
