In a recent post on the Battle.net forums, Blizzard Entertainment announced that they would officially be shutting down support for a large number of their games on both Windows Vista And Windows XP.

Blizzard explains that although Microsoft had ceased mainstream support for these two operating systems in 2009 and 2012 respectively, the developer themselves continued to support them on account of the fact that a large number of their audience was still using them at the time. But now that most of that audience has upgraded, support for these versions of Windows will be coming to an end starting this year.

The games that are affected by this decision include:

  • World of Warcraft
  • Diablo III
  • StarCraft II
  • Hearthstone
  • Heroes of the Storm.

As of yet no official date has been announced, but Blizzard did mention that these changes will be rolling out on a “staggered schedule.”
