IO Interactive has been candid in its intentions to ‘put Agent 47 on ice’ once it’s done with post-launch content for the latest game in the series, Hitman 3. But for anybody who had concerns that support was in any way winding down need not fear. In a community stream this week, Hitman 3’s future was highlighted as the game moves into its second year of content, and there’s an especially exciting ‘Freelancer’ game mode planned that introduces roguelike elements, strategic planning, and a customizable safehouse.
You’ll also get to hear what’s on the agenda in terms of technical improvements to the Glacier Engine moving forward, including Ray Tracing functionality. Further, there is a reflection on the development of the game’s upcoming PCVR mode, which offers players an even more immersive assassin experience than what is possible on PSVR.
Twinfinite reviewed Hitman 3 last year and was thoroughly impressed with the game, scoring it 4/5 and concluding:
“Without straying far from the successful sandbox formula, it’s an excellent final part of IO’s trilogy. While the increased freedom and level variety won’t be for everyone, Hitman 3 boasts some of the best locations and stories the series has ever seen, and there’s so much to uncover in each and every one of them.“
