The Nintendo Switch has been getting a lot of love from third-party developers recently, with publisher Bethesda soon releasing Doom and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus on the hybrid console. Bethesda has promised before that Doom on the Switch would be the exact same experience gamers played on PC and consoles, and it has confirmed that the same applies for The New Colossus.

Speaking to GameSpot, creative director Jens Matthies said the upcoming Doom port is “a good reference point” for Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus on the Switch as both games will run on the id Tech 6 engine. “Because it’s the same engine. It will be whatever Doom is capable of,” said Matthies.

Previews on the Switch port of Doom have been positive so far, with many saying the game was simply made playable on a portable device. The graphical quality is also similar, but with lower resolution textures due to hardware limitations. The Switch port of Doom also has a lower frame-rate, running only at 30 FPS compared to the PS4 and Xbox One versions’ 60 FPS.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus launches on October 27, 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC while the Switch version will be released sometime in early 2018. Players will don the shoes of William “B.J.” Blazkowicz once again to fight against the Nazis.
