Telltale has become well known for its episodic game series which adapt comics, TV shows, and even other games into series such as The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, and the Borderlands games. Every series seems to attract its own legion of fans who are eager to see a return of their favorite series.

Telltale launched the first season of its adaptation of the Game of Thrones TV show back in late 2014 and the series was a huge hit with gamers and show watchers alike. The series ended on a real cliffhanger and, understandably, fans are eager for the next season. Unfortunately, it looks like they’ll have to wait a bit longer.

In a recent interview with EuroGamer, Telltale’s head of creative communications, Job Stauffer, stated that the current workload Telltale is under when it comes to producing new seasons of other adaptations means that the next season of Game of Thrones won’t be released anytime soon. Telltale is currently working on a new season of Minecraft: Story Mode, The Walking Dead, Batman, and The Wolf Among Us, as well as a yet to be announced adaptation. This means that, for now, Game of Thrones is having to wait.

Early in the interview, Stauffer was quick to point out that that “does not mean it’s never coming ,” but he later said that the decision to return to the series is “still to be determined.” He also went on to say that they’re waiting to see “what happens next in the show before [they] talk about the hows and whens of [their] return to Westeros.” No doubt this will be disappointing for fans to hear and it looks like we shouldn’t expect to hear anything anytime soon.

The first season was very successful and saw players meeting new characters as well as familiar ones such as Cersei, Tyrion, and Jon Snow, all of whom were voiced by their actors from the show.
