.Hack Fans Who Want a New Game Encouraged to Ask Bandai Namco

Today .hack developer CyberConnect2 hosted its “End of The World R:2” livestream to celebrate the new year, and at the very end, President Hiroshi Matsuyama had a message for the fans of the beloved JRPG franchise.

Matsuyama-san mentioned that at the moment he has no news to share, and encouraged the fans to ask the publisher Bandai Namco to let CyberConnect2 make a new .Hack game. The warmth of the fanbase might push them in the right direction

He jokingly added that nowadays Bandai Namco likes Sword Art Online and God Eater more. The strength of the fans of the series is indispensable, and Matsuyama-san encouraged them to continue offering their support.

CyberConnect2 released .hack//G.U. Last Recode in November 2017 for Bandai Namco, but that was simply a remaster of the .Hack//G.U. series with an additional chapter and not a fully new game. They’re currently at work on several independent games including Fuga on the Battlefield, Tokyo Ogre Gate, and Cecile.

So, there you have it: straight from the lion’s mouth: if you want a new .hack game, you need to let Bandai Namco hear your voice.
