Just a few hours later, CD Projekt’s digital distribution platform followed up announcing that after receiving “many messages from gamers” they’re not going to list the game in the store.

You can see both tweets below.

Last year, Devotion and Red Thread Games were hit by controversy after hidden artwork was discovered bringing back the old joke likening general secretary of the Chinese communist party Xi Jinping to Winnie the Pooh. Such a reference is most definitely unwelcome and ruthlessly censored in China.

This resulted in the game being review bombed on Steam and then removed by Valve, while Red Thread opted not to re-release it in the near term.

After a while, the controversy faded back under the radar, but apparently the developers had not given up on providing their popular games to gamers all over the world.

Many got excited about the game’s return today, while others apparently were “excited” for a different and perhaps less gaming-related reason.

While I’m not so sure about the “messages from gamers” GOG.com says it received earlier today, one thing is for sure: they’re receiving a lot of “messages from gamers” now.
