God of War III is the Most Downloaded Remastered Game on PS4

God of War III Remastered continues what has been a long run of great success when it comes to simply souping up the graphics of games that had already been released on previous generation consoles. The title was just announced on the PlayStation Blog as having topped the list of most downloaded PlayStation 4 games for the month of July.

Just how popular is this ever-growing genre on the current generation consoles? If you consider Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, God of War III Remastered is one of three titles in that genre in the top 10 most downloaded for July.

7 Days to Die finished second when it came to most popular PS4 games and The Last of Us Remastered finished third. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection finished just inside the top 10 at number eight.

A fourth remastered title, in the form of Saints Row Re-Elected, which finished at number 14 in the top 20 most downloaded games on the PS4 further underlines just how popular this particular version of video games plenty of people played on other formats have become.

By comparison, when talking about the original versions, only The Last of Us was in the top 20 most downloaded PlayStation 3 games for the month of July. Considering this fall will see the BioShock Collection and Skyrim Remastered join the party, God of War III Remastered’s popularity is just the tip of the iceberg.
