The new God of War game stole the show at this year’s E3, but we haven’t received so much as a scrap of news about the game since then. But that changed today.
Responding to a fan’s question on Twitter, the game’s director, Cory Balrog, says that he has finished a full playthrough of the game from start to finish. While the game is still nowhere near completion, this is still a very big milestone for the team, as stated by Balrog himself.
ha. no…there is a whole game here. Just finished first full play through with the leads. very exciting milestone for us!

God of War was first revealed at E3 2016 and represented a massive shift for the series. Kratos has left behind the world of Greek mythology, instead stepping into the twisted world of Norse mythology. But he won’t be alone on his journey. He is joined by his young son. The first gameplay showed Kratos training his son to hunt, while simutaneously protecting him from menacing enemies that continuously attacked the pair.
The camera and combat have also been changed. The camera is situated behind kratos, no longer sticking to the preset camera angles that have defined the series’ tight action. The combat itself is slower and more deliberatley paced while still maintaining the sense of impact and destruction that only Kratos can deliver.
God of War will release for PS4 but no release date is currently given.
