Square Enix teased us a new Kingdom Hearts trailer yesterday, promising another look into Kingdom Hearts III and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. Though we didn’t get that ever-illusive Kingdom Hearts III release date, the trailer did offer a glimpse at some spectacular new combat mechanics.
The KH3 segment of the trailer, which starts at exactly 3:33 in the trailer below, starts off in the Tangled world we saw back in the E3 trailer. This time combat is in the spotlight, with a unique lock and flow mechanic whose menu prompts translate to “Shoot Flow/Athletic Flow.”
Sora selects multiple enemies with a special lock-on vision, then either rushes through them with a flurry of attacks or fires projectiles at them. In the trailer, he finishes a beautiful and inspiring athletic flow move by falling into a river and awkwardly floating away.
We then move to Twilight Town and the Mysterious Tower for even more key-swinging action. The video wraps with footage of the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blaster power that was leaked last week.
