Genshin Impact 1.5 Update Beneath the Light of Jadeite Trailer Introduces New Characters & Mechanics

Developer miHoYo is today readying itself to launch another update for its popular action-RPG, Genshin Impact, and there’s a new trailer to offer a glimpse of what’s to come in Update 1.5 “Beneath the Light of Jadeite.”

In particular, there are two new characters set to arrive at launch: Yanfei (Pyro), a legal adviser from Liyue, and Eula (Hydro), a Spindrift Knight from Mondstadt. Presumably, they’ll be intertwined in the story quest before being available within limited-time banners, as usual.

Today’s trailer alludes to the Beneath the Light of Jadeite storyline, but most of what’s shown pertain to new mechanics. That includes the Serenitea Pot System, which is obtained from Madame Pig and appears to hold a whole new realm inside. There, players can build homes and customize them with furniture, decorations, and even a pet animal — after the Hangout Events of the previous update, it’s great to see yet more sim elements added to Genshin Impact.

There’s also a quick glimpse at the various puzzles and dungeons to look forward as well.

Genshin Impact is now available for PS4, PC, iOS, and Android. A PS5 version is coming this spring and a Switch version also planned down the line. We still don’t have a specific release date for Nintendo’s console.
