Capcom is planning on using its most popular properties in mobile games it has emerged today after they established a business division dedicated to mobile gaming.
The new business division will be used to “produce hit titles both domestically and abroad by aggressively utilising” the company’s most popular properties.
Posting on its investor relations website, Capcom stated that it plans to release four titles by Mar. 31st 2017. These games will be based on the Mega Man, Sengoku Basara and Monster Hunter franchises.
“With international economic growth and the explosive spread of smartphones as a backdrop, the mobile games market is expected to rapidly grow from $27.5 billion in 2015 to $37.4 billion in 2019 globally,” Capcom said.
“Mobile content is a driver of growth in the game market as well as an important factor in Capcom’s growth strategy. Under these circumstances, Capcom [has] established its Mobile Business Division in order to grow its business in-step with the market and continue offering exciting content.”
It’s currently unclear whether or not the mobile games will come to the West, as the company’s current overview simply states they will be developing games for the Japanese and Asian markets.
