Popular space sim MMO, Elite Dangerous will be getting a Carrie Fisher memorial as part of its 2.3 update.
The news comes via a post on the Frontier forums initially set up to mourn the loss of the loved Star Wars actress who passed away earlier this week. Fans soon requested a memorial be placed in Fisher’s name somewhere within the game’s vast stretches of space. Soon after, Executive Produce for Elite Dangerous, Michael Brookes, confirmed that the game’s next update would include a memorial in Fisher’s name.
Posting yesterday, Brookes said “Sad news indeed – a ‘Fisher’s Rest’ outpost will be added to the game in the 2.3 release. Michael”
Fans can expect the Fisher’s Rest outpost to retain many of the same features found in other stations across the galaxy. No further details are known with regards to what the outpost may look like, or what unique features it may include. Though, the Leonard Nimoy memorial outpost added into the game following the actor’s death last year may give fans an idea.
Currently, there is no set date for when update 2.3 will go live, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated as and when we find out.
