A competitive multiplayer mode is coming to Ghost Recon: Wildlands in a free update sometime in the near future, Ubisoft announced today.
The new mode, called Ghost War, is a 4v4 team deathmatch across open-environment maps during different times of the day and weather. Players must choose specific classes such as scout, tank, sniper, or others with each class having different strengths, weaknesses, and perks. Ubisoft released a first look at the multiplayer mode in the video below.
Ghost Recon: Wildlands did not have any competitive multiplayer when it originally launched last March, only drop-in/drop-out co-op supporting up to four players. Ubisoft did briefly mention a player vs player mode would be coming in the game’s post-launch plans.
The publisher announced an open beta of the new multiplayer mode for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC would be coming “later this summer.” The free update for all Ghost Recon: Wildlands players is scheduled to release sometime this fall.
