"Assassin's Creed-style games; more open-world, more single-play versus multiplayer. It's not been an area that we've operated in."

It was announced earlier this year that developer Jade Raymond, best known for her work at Ubisoft on the Assassin’s Creed titles, had gone to work for EA under a new studio called Motive. Exactly what Raymond is working on there is still unknown, but it turns out her work on the Assassin’s Creed franchise was a big plus for what EA has in mind.

“We’ve never really operated in the largest genre of gaming, and that’s the action genre,” said EA CFO, Blake Jorgensen at the UBS Global Technology Conference in San Francisco, according to GameSpot. “That’s the Assassin’s Creed-style games; more open-world, more single-play versus multiplayer. It’s not been an area that we’ve operated in. We recently hired Jade Raymond, who was behind the Assassin’s Creed franchise for Ubisoft and she will be building an action genre for us through a studio we’re building out in Montreal right now. So a lot of excitement around the action genre.”

It seems that EA is looking to create a new game that will feature a large open world, something the company has not really done before. Jade Raymond certainly has a lot of experience working on open world games and we look forward to seeing what this new game is. Raymond is also currently working with the former creative director of the Uncharted series, Amy Hennig, on a new Star Wars title with Visceral Games that has yet to be announced.
