A core part of 2016’s The Last Guardian was the interaction between your character and the griffin-like dog/bird hybrid creature known as Trico. Developer Team Ico is taking this concept further with The Last Guardian VR Demo that has been recently announced for release on Dec. 12, and will be available to download for free.
In The Last Guardian VR Demo you can interact directly with Trico, and will be able to call out to it and ride on its back. Besides this, not many details of the game’s gameplay are known, except that it will be “15 to 20 minutes long,” as stated by the President of Sony Interactive Entertainment America, Shawn Layden, at the PSX 2017 opening celebration.
Details from the PlayStation Blog:
The Last Guardian VR Demo is a short experience, and it is standalone; there are no larger versions of this project planned. But it is an amazing testament to the power of PS VR to immerse, and the breathtaking scale and character of the world of The Last Guardian. Also, it works with a DualShock 4 and does not require that you own [a] copy of The Last Guardian on PS4. You will, though, need PS VR and the PlayStation camera to experience the demo.
Sony showed roughly 30 seconds of footage for the demo at the opening celebration, which can be viewed below (starts at 1:00):
