Capcom has given Resident Evil fans a lot to look forward to next year with several ports of the series’ past titles slated for release on the Nintendo Switch.
In a post to Twitter, Capcom revealed that ports of Resident Evil, Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil 4 would launch on the Nintendo Switch in 2019. The ports would be the first instance of mainline titles releasing on the portable Nintendo console in North America, as well as a return to rereleases on a mainline Nintendo console following a gap during the tenure of the Nintendo Wii U.
No specifics were given on the exact release dates of any of the three titles, or whether the releases would be retail or digital only. The company did say, though, that more news would come soon enough.

The ports would mark the latest rerelease of the highly lauded Resident Evil 4, which has seen releases on most every console and platform out of the past three generations of consoles. Likewise, the series’ first entry and 0 have enjoyed continued popularity and play among fans in recent years, with continued rereleases and ports to more current consoles.
The news also comes at a time when Capcom has made clear their renewed interest in remakes and remasters. In a financial report released back in August, the company revealed that Resident Evil 2 wasn’t the only title that had been in consideration for a rerelease.
“Further, regarding remakes and rereleases of titles in our back catalog, we expect to explore these further with a variety of properties as a part of our strategy to utilize our library of IP,” the company wrote.
