Call of Duty studios Treyarch and Raven Software announced new weapons, events, multiplayer maps, and more coming in Season 3 for both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
Both games will receive six new weapons with three available at launch and three during the season. The launch weapons will be the PPSh-41 SMG, the bolt-action Swiss K31 sniper rifle, and the return of the spring-action Ballistic Knife launcher. Coming during the season will be the CARV.2 tactical rifle, AMP63 pistol, and a baseball bat.
Season 3 of Black Ops Cold War will add four more multiplayer maps for free including the 6v6 map Yamantau and the multi-faceted Diesel map at launch, while Black Ops II classic Standoff returns alongside Multi-Team map Duga drops during the season. Call of Duty regular Captain Price will become a playable Operator for both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, though will be different from the Modern Warfare version, and will be free for all Black Ops Cold War players.
Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies Outbreak mode will get the new Toxic Growth field upgrade, Duga region, two vehicles, and events while PlayStation players will get two new maps for the Onslaught mode.
Season 3 of Warzone will be preempted by a big event which is asking players to check back in on Wednesday, April 21 at 3 p.m. ET, according to the blog post. The Call of Duty Twitter teased last week that a nuclear weapon could be hitting the Warzone map of Verdansk, clearing away the zombie outbreak of Season 2 and radically changing the map.
The Season 3 update will be available to Black Ops Cold War players on April 20 at midnight ET, to Warzone players on April 21 at midnight ET, and will go live on April 22. The Black Ops Cold War update will be about 8-13 GB depending on platform, and the Warzone update at around 25 GB.
