Boss Key, responsible for infamous first-person shooter LawBreakers, has lost one of its most prominent leaders over the weekend. Indeed, one of the men responsible for founding the studio in the first place has left in favor of rejoining Epic Games on a “exciting secret project.”
The news comes via former COO Arjan Brussee’s Twitter account, which reads the following: “Big News…. I’m leaving @bosskey and will return to @EpicGames after 20 years (!) to work on an exciting secret project, stay tuned!”
In response to his friend’s departure, co-founder Cliff Bleszinski had the following to say in his own Tweet: “It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform you that we’ve parted ways with @arjanbrussee from @BossKey. He is not only a brilliant person but also a dear friend and I wish him well in his future endeavors. Onward and upward – still makin’ games here!”
There’s no word yet as to who will take over Brussee’s position in the company. As COO, his responsibilities included but were not limited to financing, production, legal work, and more, thus making him an integral part of the team.
This weekend’s departure continues an onslaught of depressing news for the developer, seeing as how its first game, LawBreakers, is still struggling to garner notable attention for PC gamers.
It remains to be seen what the future has in store for both the game and for the company. Here’s hoping that whatever the case may be, Boss Key’s remaining employees are able to work on something exciting and new soon.
