Call of Duty Black Ops 4: Multiplayer Reveal Introduces New Weapons Systems

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Call of Duty Black Ops 4’s Community Reveal Livestream is underway, and the event has started with the Multiplayer Reveal. The way that Black Ops 4 changes multiplayer is something unlike any Call of Duty title before it. Along with the return of the Specialist System, which allows players to select Specialists with unique abilities. A new addition to the Specialist system is unique special order equipment, which is an item only equippable by that specialist in the Create-a-Class screen, alongside the updated weapons system. One of these pieces of equipment was announced for a returning specialist: Ruin. Ruin can use the grapple gun, a weapon that allows you to rapidly move around the map. This, combined with the updated version of his Gravity Spikes, referred to as “Grav Slam” will allow for interesting combos and powerful attacks to come from any direction.

Aside from Specialists returning, each of the new weapons now have their own unique attachments, as well as a new category of attachment: Operator Mods. These attachments are unique and provide significant differences to the usage of the weapons, making each weapon in each class a unique experience. An example was shown involving the Titan LMG, which has Suppressor Rounds.

Healing is no longer automatic, and is rather activated by the press of a button. This can completely change the course of battle, and there are even new specialists which can affect health and healing mechanics, such as Crash, the Medic Specialist. Crash has the ability to increase the health of his allies with one of his abilities, ensuring they survive a harsh firefight or get the boost they need to disengage the enemy. Another specialist announced was Firebreak, a returning classic from Black Ops 3 who wielded a Flamethrower, who now has an updated specialist ability allowing him to lock down areas with powerful heatwaves, heatwaves that he can maintain at the cost of his health.
