Tonight at the Game Awards, one of the intended guests was meant to be Hideo Kojima, the man behind the world renowned Metal Gear Solid series. After all the bad stuff that’s been going down with Konami, fans were eager to see him at the awards ceremony, even if only for a brief moment. But after MGS V won the award for best action game, Kiefer Sutherland (voice of Big Boss) accepted the award on his behalf.

Turns out, according to Geoff Keighley, that Kojima had every intention of showing up at the awards show, but a lawyer from Konami said that he was legally not allowed to show up. And the crowd responded about as well as you’d expect, which is to say, not well. There were boos aplenty during that revelation.
