Silicon Studios, the developer behind Bravely Default and 3D Dot Game Heroes, announced today that they would be partnering with Hironobu Sakaguchi and his team at Mistwalker via a press release. Specifics of the project haven’t been announced yet, but the joining promises to combine the power and imagination of Mistwalker, with the technological strength and long-term management power of Silicon Studio.
Mistwalker has previously released Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey on Xbox 360, The Last Story on Wii and Terra Battle on mobile. Although the partnership is only announced for one game, Silicon Studios suggests it may be for more than that.
The likely candidate for the project is a console version of the mobile RPG Terra Battle. The artwork featured above was included with the press release from Silicon, but is also featured on Terra Battle’s downloadstarter page.
Sakaguchi has said that the eventual console version of Terra Battle wouldn’t mirror the mobile game, but feature the same lore and world instead. What do you think of the new partnership between Mistwalker and Silicon Studio? Do you enjoy both of the studio’s games? What do you hope to see come out of the work between the two studios? Let us know in the comments.
