Bandai Namco Expects Scarlet Nexus to Sell 1 Million Copies by March 2022; Financial Results Announced

Net sales were 178,049 million yen (+22.8% year-on-year) while operating profit was 27.021 yen (+35.7% year-on-year)

The company also revised its forecasts for both figures for the full fiscal year.

In the digital business, that includes video games, in addition to sales due to the launch of Scarlet Nexus repeat sales of older titles have been doing well due to marketing initiatives.

That being said, the business did not match last year’s performance. Sales were 66,834 million yen (-12.6% year-on-year) and segment income was  11,827 million yen (-39.0% year-on-year).

During the presentation for investors, Scarlet Nexus was mentioned as having made a good start and Bandai Namco expects it to pass 1 million shipments by the end of the fiscal year in March 2022.

In the end, the company plans to develop it as a new IP also thanks to the relationship between the game and the animation produced by Sunrise.

With the upcoming release of Elden Ring and Tales of Arise, the ratio of the reveal of new games is expected to change and Bandai Namco plans to have them develop into titles that will sell for a long time.

The company also plans to continue to make solid efforts in technological research to respond quickly to the intensifying competition and the advent of new tech.

Furthermore, with the announcement of the latest Dragon Ball Super movie expected to come in 2022, the entire group, including the gaming division and the toy and hobby series will work to boost the excitement about it.
