The Tokyo-based publisher revealed with a press release that it has reached a basic agreement to work with Osaka-based Towa Pharmaceutical to help develop a medication support tool.

What makes this quite interesting is that the tool aims to use gaming to help patients remember to take their medication, also contributing to reduce the issue of leftover medicine and its associated costs.

Towa Pharmaceutical will take care of the medical part of the tool while Bandai Namco will develop its software and content.

At the moment, no further information about the tool and its gaming features have been revealed, but considering how daily tasks and quests are a very widespread element of video games nowadays, especially on mobile, it’s certainly not difficult to understand how gaming elements could help people remember something that they need to do at regular intervals. Taking medication is a relevant example among those tasks.

We also don’t know whether the tool wil ever make it to the west, considering that both companies involved are Japanese. That being said, it’s likely easyto see how this kind of application of gaming could potentially help millions of people around the world.

We’ll keep you posted about further updates if Bandai Namco or Towa Pharmaceutical share more in the future.
