Axiom Verge was originally released on the PlayStation 4 in the Spring of 2015 and has since seen a release on the PC, Xbox One, PS Vita, and Wii U. The game was very well received for by gamers and critics for its fun gameplay, wide variety of weapons, interesting level designs, and high replay value.
It has been announced in a press release that a special edition of the game, called the Multiverse Edition, will be getting a physical release on the PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Wii U, and the Switch.
Set to be released this August, the special physical release will include a documentary about the making of the game, a deluxe booklet with developer commentary and art, a double sided poster, and of course the game itself. Pre-ordering will also get you a CD copy of the game’s soundtrack but this will be included regardless for Switch versions.
The documentary was created by 2 Player Productions, who s best known for Minecraft: The Story of Mojang documentary, and will offer behind-the-scenes insight for fans about the creation of the game. Axiom Verge is notable in that it was created solely by one dedicated developer, Thomas Happ, who created the game over several years whilst caring for his special needs son and working full time.

Speaking of the documentary, Paul Levering, Producer at 2 Player Productions said: “This has been a dream project for us. A level of access like this is rarely seen in making-of documentaries about entertainment properties – particularly with video games. We’re immensely grateful to Thomas Happ Games and BadLand Games for making our documentary a cornerstone of the Multiverse Edition.”
Axiom Verge: Multiverse Edition is set to be priced at $29.99. Pre-orders don’t appear to be live yet but stay tuned to BadLandIndie for updates.
