In order to know how the developers at Gust feel about such a positive reception on the Japanese market, we Twinfinite asked Producer Junzo Hosoi for a comment.

Hosoi-san talked about the team’s satisfacion for the result, and expressed confidence that western gamers will enjoy the game as well.

“I am really pleased with the very strong sales and high reputation of Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout in Japan. The game has sold very well in Japan/Asia and become one of the top-selling entries in the series!

Back when we revealed the game, we saw many positive comments on how cute Ryza’s design was. Though after the launch of the game these people not only loved the characters, they also highly praised the exciting game systems – such as the new Active Time Battle and Synthesis systems.

We were overwhelmed by all the positive comments the community shared with us after trying out this latest entry.

The team has worked hard to deliver this beautiful new entry to the Atelier series, and I am confident Western users will enjoy the game as well. I hope that Atelier fans and newcomers alike will enjoy Atelier Ryza.”
