PlayStation gamers, heads up! It has been announced by Sony that the PlayStation Network will be undergoing some “routine maintenance” this week. This means that, for a short time, online services will be down.
The news was announced on the PSN service status page and tomorrow, July 25, the service will be offline from 8AM to 9AM in your local time zone. All PlayStation platforms, from, the PS4 to the Vita will be affected by maintenance but you will still be able to play your games and enjoy most of your applications, but you won’t be able to use PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, or Account Management.
The full details reads:
“Routine maintenance and improvements for PlayStationâ„¢Network will be performed for approximately 1 hour on 07/25/2017, 8:00 AM to 07/25/2017, 9:00 AM (Your Local Timezone). Anyone who already has an account can still sign in to their PlayStationâ„¢Network profile, play games, and use most applications while this maintenance is carried out. You will not be able to access PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and Account Management during this maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience. We recommend activating your PS4â„¢ as your primary console before maintenance begins so you can continue to play most games and use 3rd party services during maintenance. To activate your console, sign in to your PlayStationâ„¢Network profile and select [Settings] > [PlayStationâ„¢Network/Account Management] > [Activate as Your Primary PS4] > [Activate]. You only need to do this once. We strive to ensure that PlayStationâ„¢Network services are available at all times, but occasionally we must take PlayStationâ„¢Network offline to perform essential maintenance and implement feature enhancements. We are working hard to reduce the duration of each maintenance.”
Given that it’s only an hour of downtime, it’s unlikely to cause any real disturbance to the community. Everything should return to normal once the hour’s up.
