The news came via a tweet from Fergusson’s Twitter account revealing that there will be an 11 GB day one patch for those picking up a physical copy of Gears of War 4. Those of you who are downloading the game digitally, however, won’t have to worry about a delay to jumping into the action. The day one patch is included in the 54.6 GB download file for the game.

Unfortunately, no patch notes have been revealed for the day one update as of yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted if details emerge.

Even better for digital buyers, Gears of War 4 is now available for preloading, so you can get the whole thing downloaded and ready to roll as soon as the clock strikes midnight on release.

This news follows the announcement of two other Gears of War 4 Xbox One S bundles that will accompany the Limited Edition 2 TB console.

Will you be picking up Gears of War 4 on disc, or will you download it ahead of the release date? Let us know in the comments below.
