Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is truly a return to form for the veteran franchise by Project Aces, and apparently Japanese gamers agree.
The local statistics firm Media Create posted its weekly analysis and additional information on top of the top-20 (related to the week between Jan. 14 and Jan. 20) that was published on Wednesday.
We learn that besides the estimated 202,379 copies sold through to Japanese customers for PS4, the game also sold roughly 2,000 copies on Xbox One without counting digital downloads.
This put the Xbox One version of the game in 34th place in the top-60 ranking. For an Xbox One version to even enter the top-60 at all is an extremely rare event in Japan.
On top of that, we read that not only Ace Combat 7 soundly beats the debut sales of Assault Horizon (170,000 copies), but also managed to sell 92,23% of the initial shipment, which Media Create defines “extremely high.”
According to the firm, the game was successful not only in appealing to core fans of the series but also to in attracting brand new fans.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is currently available for PS4 and Xbox One. The wait for PC gamers is finally close to its end as the game will launch on Steam in just one week, on Feb. 1.
