Metal Gear Survive Box Art Reveals Always Online Requirement

Includes Xbox One X support.
This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Metal Gear Survive is the upcoming Metal Gear game to be released by publisher Konami and will be the first game in the series to be released without creator Hideo Kojima on board. As MetalGearInformer reports, Konami has released images of the final box art for the game and it tells us a number of things. Firstly, the game will be rated 16+, which is hardly surprising for a title that sees gamers killing zombies by any means. More interesting, however, is the fact that the game requires you to always be online when you play it. Those of you without a constant internet connection are going to be left out, it seems. The box art also reveals that the game will support the Xbox One X’s enhanced power, but so far there’s no mention as to whether or not the PS4 version will take advantage of the PS4 Pro’s extra horse-speed. It could always come in an later update if it isn’t there at launch. Metal Gear Survive Following the controversial ousting of Kojima from Konami, the publisher soon after announced Metal Gear: Survive. The game is a spin-off of the main series and sees a group of Big Boss’ soldiers sucked through a wormhole. They land in an alternate world where zombie-like creatures exist, meaning players will have to build up their base, collect resources, and craft weapons if they want to survive. Metal Gear Survive is set to be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC later this year. A beta is set to go live for console players on Jan. 18.
