Edmund McMillen, the creator of such popular difficult games as Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac, has announced a brand new title that looks to be just as challenging as his previous work. Announced via a new trailer on his YouTube channel and a brand new blog post, The End Is Nigh! gives us a quick glimpse into what we can expect from the upcoming, violent platformer.

What starts as a simple platformer becomes a cruel gauntlet of obstacles and projectiles as Ash, The End is Nigh!’s amorphous protagonist, works his way though a post-apocalyptic world as he endeavors to to make a friend “out of pieces of people he finds along his journey.” It sounds just as out of the box as his previous projects. You can check out the few trailer below.

The End is Nigh! is set to be huge with over 600 levels, 12 explorable chapters, over 20 collectible game cartridges (which you can fully play and have their own achievements), and more collectibles than you’ll know what to do with. And, like with Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac, there will be tons of secrets… and death.

The best part is that you won’t even have to wait long to see what it’s all about, as The End is Nigh! is set for a July 12 release on Steam. It’s also set to release on the Nintendo Switch some time later along with “possibly more consoles.” It’s time to get your reflexes up to snuff before the end comes for you.
